About

Peggy L. Sanders

Two major events in Peggy’s life caused her to change course from a highly regarded expert on federal, state and local legislation to an Elder Law Attorney, seeking to use her unique background and expertise to help others in time of uncertainty and crisis.  First, in 2007, Peggy’s mother succumbed to dementia after suffering with the disease over five years. Then, in 2008, Peggy was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, and spent a year undergoing difficult treatment, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. From her experience as a breast cancer survivor, Peggy developed a deep empathy and understanding of the profound physical, emotional and financial effects chronic and debilitating disease can have on our clients. From her experience with her mother, and later with her in-laws, as well as those of close friends, Peggy’s conviction grew that people in their later years need and deserve topnotch legal services to protect their assets, provide for their increasing medical needs, preserve their independence and provide for assistance when independent living is no longer safe or appropriate. A native of Maine, after graduating from law school, Peggy joined a private practice in Honolulu. She left paradise to move to Washington, D.C., to work for the Hon. George Mitchell when he was Majority Leader of the U. S. Senate. After he retired, she fell in love with Washington State, and served state and local governments here, most recently crafting legislation for King and Snohomish Counties.
